How to Make Yoga Part of Your Weekly Routine

In today’s fast-paced world, finding time to prioritize your well-being can be a challenge. While we all know the benefits of yoga—both for our physical health and mental clarity—fitting it into our busy weekly routines can sometimes seem overwhelming. However, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned yogi, setting up a sustainable routine can make all the difference in reaping the benefits of your practice. Here’s how to make yoga a seamless part of your weekly life.

1. Start Small and Build Gradually

The key to building any lasting habit is to start with manageable steps. If you're new to yoga or coming back after a break, begin with just one or two classes a week. Over time, as you become more comfortable and confident, you can add more sessions without feeling overwhelmed. Even if you can only make it once a week, that’s perfectly fine and better than nothing; even one of our Co-Directors can only make it to yoga once a week!

Tip: Our studio offers a variety of class styles and lengths, so you can choose classes that fit your schedule and energy levels. Once you’ve established a routine, you’ll find it easier to make yoga a regular part of your week. We also offer a variety or membership options, so don’t feel that because the Unlimited may be too much, that you can’t join. The Mini-Membership is perfect for a once-a-week routine, and our 10-Class Packs are perfect for even more flexibility if you can only come every other week or a few times a month!

2. Set Your Intention for the Week

Start by deciding what role you want yoga to play in your week. Is it a time to de-stress, to build strength, or to find balance? Having a clear intention gives you motivation and helps guide how you fit yoga into your schedule. Take a few minutes each Sunday to plan the week ahead, choosing the classes that best match your intention.

Tip: Our Classes are primarily Level 1/2, meaning that both beginners (Level 1) and Intermediate Yogis (Level 2) are welcome! This means that teachers may offer several different variations of a pose, and you can chose the variation that best matches with your intentions for that week and what your body is wanting in the moment.

3. Schedule It Like an Appointment

Consistency is key when building any habit, and yoga is no different. Treat your yoga classes like any other important appointment. Block out time on your calendar and make it non-negotiable. When you treat your practice with the same importance as work meetings or doctor’s appointments, you're more likely to show up.

Tip: Our monthly memberships allow you to plan your classes far in advance, making it easier to stick to your schedule without worrying about booking last-minute, and making sure there’s always space for you in our busy classes that fill quickly!

4. Find a Class Time That Works for You

Everyone has different energy peaks throughout the day. For some, early morning classes help set a positive tone for the day, but sunrise classes aren’t for everyone. Having hour ong practices at 5am is not the only way, or even the “right” way to practice yoga, because that is entirely up to you and your body. You may prefer evening sessions to unwind after work, or to squeeze in a class during you lunch break or after dropping the kids off at school. The key is finding a time that aligns with your natural rhythm.

Tip: Explore our class schedule to find a time that fits your routine. Whether it’s a sunrise express yoga or evening wind-down restorative session, having a membership gives you the flexibility to try different times and discover what works best for you.

5. Make the Most of Your Membership

While having a favorite class or teacher is great, and often leads to very consistent weekly practice, variety can also keep your practice fresh and exciting. If things are starting to feel too same-y, try exploring different class styles or teachers throughout the week. When you're part of our yoga community, you get access to a wide variety of classes, times, and styles. Our monthly memberships give you the freedom to explore different classes and instructors, which can help you stay engaged and excited about your practice. Whether it’s a relaxing Yin Yoga class or an energizing Level 2 Vinyasa flow, you can tailor your practice to your needs each week without worrying about paying for individual sessions. Not only will this keep things interesting, but it will also challenge your body and mind in new ways. Or don’t. If you have one class and teacher you love and that’s the only class you ever want to take, awesome. Stick with it!

Tip: With an Unlimited Monthly Membership, you can experiment with different classes without the pressure of paying for individual sessions. This allows you to explore more without commitment, finding the perfect balance for your routine and not leaving you “trapped” in one particular class each week. While the Unlimited Membership allows you to take the most classes, it isn’t a necessity for you to try new times and classes! You can also try out a teacher’s class on our On-Demand Library at home, included in all our monthly memberships, so you know whether you’d like to give it a try in person. Even though our Mini-Memberships only allow you one in-person or livestream class a week, you can still take an Unlimited number of our classes in the Library, so there’s no need to feel limited by the Mini-Membership!

6. Prioritize Self-Care

Yoga isn’t just about flexibility and strength; it's also a time for you to unwind, de-stress, and reconnect with yourself. When you view your practice as an essential part of self-care, you’re more likely to prioritize it. Think of it as giving yourself the gift of time to recharge, rather than another item on your to-do list. It should be an opportunity to take a break from stressors in your life, not become an additional stressor, so if it’s becoming too much, think of another time which may be more convenient!

Tip: A membership makes it easier to prioritize self-care regularly, offering you unlimited access to classes that fit your life and schedule.

7. Stay Accountable with a Yoga Buddy

Staying motivated on your own can be tough, especially when life gets busy. Invite a friend or family member to join you in your practice. Not only will you both stay motivated, but it’s also a fun way to bond and share your yoga journey.

Tip: With an Unlimited Membership, you can introduce your yoga buddy to a free class, and then refer them for a discount for you both, making it easier for both of you to commit to your practice.

8. Celebrate the Progress, Not Perfection

One of the beautiful things about yoga is that it’s a journey, not a destination. Instead of striving for perfection, focus on how you feel after each practice. Maybe you’re more relaxed, maybe you notice increased flexibility or strength. Whatever the outcome, celebrate your commitment to showing up for yourself. With time, you’ll see how regular practice transforms both your body and your mind.

Tip: Life can be busy, and even if this progress check-in happens during Savasana, it is still an important part of the practice. If you take a moment to appreciate how yoga makes you feel, you’ll have more reason to convince yourself to go to the next class, to feel that feeling again!

Making yoga part of your weekly routine doesn’t have to be difficult, even though it may feel like it. By starting small, planning ahead, and staying flexible with your approach, you’ll find that it quickly becomes a natural part of your lifestyle. And remember, our studio’s monthly membership is designed to help you stay consistent, giving you the flexibility and support to practice regularly without stress. If you need help at any time, feel free to reach out to us, talk to your teachers, or send us an email. We’re here to support you on your yoga journey—one class at a time!
